Luxquanta receives the D+I award in the category of Best Digitalization Project

Madrid, October 19, 2023 – The esteemed D+I “Disruptores e Innovadores Awards” by EL ESPAÑOL, a prominent Spanish digital newspaper, took place yesterday at Espacio Bernabéu by Eneldo in Madrid. The meticulously arranged ceremony brought together over 300 attendees who witnessed the recognition of the 10 awardees, including Luxquanta.

Luxquanta was recognized as the Best Digitalization Project in SMEs, being introduced at the ceremony with a curated video summarizing our work and mission (above, in Spanish). Our work, focus and mission is completely oriented to develop premium and high performing Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems to protect critical comunications.

The company specially focus on the development of a variant known as Continuous-Variable QKD, with allows an easier deployment of the system within already deployed optical networks, coexisting with classical communications.

The award for the Best Digitalization Project was given to Luxquanta’s CEO, Vanesa Diaz, by David Francisco Blanco, Secretario General de Red.es. Vanesa proudly received the prize representing the entire team of Luxquanta, and emphaziing the significance of receving such recognition:

“You have no idea what an honor it is to be here with all of you. Many thanks, of course, to D+I, Diario EL ESPAÑOL, Invertia, and the jury for selecting us. The Luxquanta project actually has a bit more history than the two years we’ve officially been in operation. We inherited the technology from ICFO, which is the research center where our co-founders worked during those years until the company was formed. We’ve been at it for two years, but in February of this year, we became the first manufacturer of a quantum cryptography version in Europe. We truly surprised the world, and since then, we’ve been on a meteoric journey.”

“Our goal is not only to protect government, public institution, and private company communications but also to protect the lives of citizens. Ultimately, our goal is to have affordable technology that we can easily implement and that is robust. The dream is to facilitate a secure digital life. We have a very ambitious project because we want to be European leaders and export the technology beyond this country. It’s ambitious, but we have the technology, which is highly disruptive and ready.”

D+I AWARDS: REFERENCE IN THE SPANISH-SPEAKING INDUSTRY

The D+I Innovation Awards 2023 have already become a reference in the field of innovation and the Spanish-speaking scientific and technological community, aiming to set the path for digitization through the exemplary achievements of the best faces and projects of the moment.

The event is organized by Disruptores e Innovadores (D+I) and is sponsored by AWS, Crowe, EVO, Mapfre, Redit, the City of Madrid, the City of San Sebastián, the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Community, the Government of Extremadura, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, and the Government of Aragón. The winners were announced at a beautiful gala at the Espacio Bernabéu La Salle by Eneldo, which also served as a major networking event with over 300 attendees this year.

Prominent figures like the Executive Chairman and Director of EL ESPAÑOL, Pedro J. Ramírez; the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas; the Director of D+I, Alberto Iglesias Fraga; and the Editor, Rafa Navarro, opened and presided the event.

CATEGORIES OF THE D+I AWARDS

These prestigious awards go through a double screening process to ensure maximum independence, honesty, and transparency. The first screening is carried out by the D+I (Disruptores e Innovadores) editorial team, selecting 50 finalists from the most outstanding topics published in recent months within the media. The final voting is conducted by a jury independent of the media, composed of 12 renowned members from the ecosystem, including independent analysts, top executives, and academics.

Based on the results of these votes, ten categories are awarded, including:
